Do You Know Who Has the Best Butter Tart in Durham?
Butter Tarts are a Canadian staple, and let’s face it we all have our thoughts on what makes the perfect tart. Well The Novak Report has decided to find out just who has the best butter tart in all of Durham Region.
On Friday, February 8th, The Novak Report will hold its first ever Best Butter Tart contest in conjunction with the Real Canadian Superstore in Ajax. The event will take place in the Upstairs at Loblaws and entrants will vie for the coveted recognition of being known as having the best Butter Tarts in Durham. The event will take place between 1 - 4 PM and a group of celebrity judges will constitute part of the over-all voting.
Confirmed thus far as a judge are:
Mayor David Ryan - City of Pickering
Eric Novak - Host of The Novak Report
Carolyn Ellis - Morning Show co-host on KX/96 New Country FM
David Matys - Publisher of SNAP Ajax and Pickering Newspapers
Rita Nave - Entertainment Host, Channel 12 CHEX TV Durham
Tom Fillipou - Executive Chef, Loblaws and Real Canadian Superstore Cooking Schools
Jamie Bergson - Owner, Havana Nights Restaurant and Nightclub, Ajax
More celebrities and well known individuals are being lined up as we speak.
If you feel that you have a great butter tart or know where they are made in the area, you are welcome to enter the contest. The fee to participate is $25 with all proceeds from the event being donated to the President's Choice Children's Charities Foundation. In addition any shopper wishing to sample and become a judge as well may do so during contest hours for a nominal fee.
The entire contest will be filmed and will be aired as a full week feature on The Novak Report at a later date.
